Boston Celtics dominate Mavericks in Game 1 win as Kristaps Porziņģis shines in return

Celtics take 1-0 series lead with 107-89 victory

The Boston Celtics took a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals with a 107-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 on Tuesday night at TD Garden.

Porziņģis leads Celtics with 25 points, 13 rebounds

Kristaps Porziņģis, who missed the previous two games of the Eastern Conference Finals with a right ankle injury, returned to the lineup and led the Celtics with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Jayson Tatum added 21 points and Jaylen Brown had 20 for Boston.

The Celtics led by just five points at halftime, but they pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 34-19. Boston led by as many as 23 points in the fourth quarter before settling for the 18-point win.

Luka Dončić led the Mavericks with 20 points, but he was just 6-of-18 from the field. Spencer Dinwiddie added 18 points and Reggie Bullock had 16 for Dallas.

The Mavericks will try to even the series when they host the Celtics in Game 2 on Thursday night.
